It’s no secret marbling has a special place in my heart. Especially hand marbled…. well, anything really. Paper, ceramics, clothing– somehow you marble it and I’ll buy it.

So, discovering this post from Poppytalk about a DIY marbled coffee mug using nail polish and I was sold. How awesome-sauce is this?

Of course I proceeded to marble my own mug. Rest assured, the results were awesome. But it got me thinking…what else can I do this to? As I began shopping my home for anything I could smear with nail polish,  I spied my fall pumpkin display.

YAAAAAS, marbled pumpkins would be fabulous!

Make your own marbled pumpkins

Any color or combination of colors you are feeling at the moment will do, as you won’t need very much of it. I’d suggest sticking to bright or dark polish colors for creating your marbled pumpkins. Be sure the plastic tub or container you use is one you don’t mind having nail polish residue on. Because, there will be nail polish residue (learned the hard way).

Fill your container with some warm water. Holding the polish bottle very close to the water surface swirl a small amount of polish onto the surface. Use a skewer or stirrer to give the polish a few swirls. You’ll need to act quickly as the polish will begin to harden, take your pumpkin and dip it into the polish slowly. When you lift it out the polish will be stuck onto it. Rest on a paper towel to let it dry.

Experiment with dipping each pumpkin at a slightly different angle to get an interesting effect when they’re clustered.

Enjoy!
